Interns at the South China Morning Post take an active role in reporting on daily news and coming up with their own projects. These included a multimedia project on the history of Hong Kong’s handover and covering a series of democracy protests in the summer of 2014.

The Fung Global Institute | Hong Kong SAR
Social media manager September 2013 – May 2013
The Fung Global Institute is a Hong Kong based think tank that researches new economic models in the fallout from the 2007 Financial Crisis. As a social media consultant, projects include helping the Institute to plan a social media strategy for its December 2013 Asia Global Dialogue in Hong Kong.

As a member of the Institute’s Media Team, internship accomplishments included online content and social media management; doubling the Institute’s followers on Twitter; writing internal summaries on daily news events; writing and editing article summaries and introductions.

Work experience accomplishments included writing a dozen articles and blog posts about the environment and shadowing the desk editor.

As a reporting intern during the Vermont state legislative session, internship accomplishments included writing article updates for daily deadlines, assisting reporters with background research, attending committee sessions, and transcription.
